RCMP say a 44-year-old RM of South Cypress farmer was transported to hospital after a tractor was struck by an eastbound CP Rail train at an uncontrolled railway crossing just south of the Trans-Canada Highway on Road 93W at around 11:50 a.m. Tuesday. As of Tuesday evening, the victim’s condition was not known.
A collision between a train and a farm tractor at an uncontrolled CP Rail crossing in North Cypress sent one person to hospital on Tuesday, the RCMP reports.
At about 11:50 am., RCMP from Brandon and Carberry, as well as emergency services from Carberry, were dispatched to the scene of a Canadian Pacificuncontrolled railway crossing, situated just south of the Trans-Canada Highway on Road 93W.
Investigation has determined that a John Deere tractor operated by a 44-year-old RM of South Cypress farmer was struck by an eastbound CP Rail train. The collision occurred at an uncontrolled crossing on Road 93W in the RM of North Cypress.
The tractor operator was taken to hospital by ambulance for further assessment and treatment.His condition was unknown as of Tuesday evening. There were no other individualsinjured in the crash.
RCMP investigated the collision, with the assistance of Canadian Pacific Rail officials and an RCMP collision reconstructionist.
