The western half of Victoria Avenue — voted the province’s worst road this past spring — will hopefully be completely repaved by the end of August.
The province said yesterday that paving work will begin on Monday and take about two weeks to complete, so long as the weather is favourable.
During the work, which will stretch from 18th Street to 34th Street for about a mile, traffic will be reduced to a single lane at times, and some side-street access may be limited. Both the 26th Street and 34th Street intersections will also be rehabilitated.
Access to businesses along that strip will be maintained as much as possible, the province said, but may have to be closed briefly during paving operations.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution approaching and in construction zones for their own safety and the safety of workers.
