Brandon’s planning commission meetings will now start half an hour earlier in an effort to alleviate staffing conflicts.
Second and third readings to amend the city’s planning commission bylaw were read and passed during Monday’s regular city council meeting.
This will alter the start time of regular meetings from the usual 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. based on a recommendation by the city’s planning and building safety department.
Currently, the planning commission convenes on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The proposed change is also an attempt to keep public hearings from extending too late into the evening.
The change in start time only concerns the city’s planning commission and not the start time of regular city council meetings.
