Police investigate reports of bar assaults

City police are investigating after three men were reportedly assaulted in a city bar last weekend.

Brandon Police Service Sgt. Dallas Lockart said on Wednesday that officers weren’t called to the bar at the time of the assaults early Sunday morning.

Rather, they’re piecing together what happened after three men came to the police station to make complaints — two on Sunday afternoon and one on Monday evening.

As of Wednesday, police continued to investigate but Lockhart outlined what they’ve learned so far.

There were at least two separate incidents inside the Great Western Roadhouse at the Canad Inns hotel that involved three victims.

It seems one man was assaulted on the dance floor, and another two men were assaulted near a washroom.

Two men with upper-body injuries went to Brandon hospital and were treated and released.

At this point, police have identified one person believed to have been involved in both attacks. It’s possible more suspects may be identified as the investigation continues.

All the victims knew each other, but it doesn’t appear they knew the man believed to be their attacker, Lockhart said.

No arrest has been made, and the motive for the assaults isn’t known.

Police are working to obtain video surveillance footage from inside the bar.

A message for the manager of the Roadhouse wasn’t immediately returned on Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Brandon Police Service at 204-729-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 204-727-8477 (TIPS).
