Police lay charge following Patricia Avenue car crash

Police have managed to find and arrest a teenager believed responsible for stealing and wrecking a car in November.

The car, a 2008 Pontiac G6, was reported stolen from Baker Bay, in the east end of Brandon, on Nov. 6. Police recovered it later that night, abandoned on the 5000-block of Patricia Avenue, where it had been rolled and extensively damaged.

At the time, they said they had found a 19-year-old man in the passenger seat, injured. He was taken to hospital. The alleged driver was said to have fled, and although police brought out dogs to try to track him, the dogs lost his scent in a residential area in the west end of the city.

Police say that further investigation into has led them to a suspect, and yesterday they arrested a 19-year-old Brandon man. He has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and has been released from custody to appear in court in March.
