A woman spent the night in the drunk tank and now faces multiple charges after a vehicle banged into a hotel’s beer vendor and drove away.
It’s alleged that she combined marijuana and prescription drugs with alcohol and was driving without a licence.
Staff at the downtown hotel called police just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, saying that a vehicle had just struck the beer vendor area of their building and was driving away.
Police managed to find the vehicle nearby and pulled it over in the 1300-block of Pacific Avenue. They say the woman behind the wheel appeared highly intoxicated. Although she tried to give officers another person’s name, police say she was later properly identified and was driving without a licence.
Although highly intoxicated, the woman provided breath samples that were around the legal limit. Police say they later learned that she had been smoking marijuana and taking prescription drugs, as well as drinking.
A 43-year-old woman of no fixed address was to appear in court yesterday on charges of impaired driving, public mischief, impersonation, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and driving without a licence.
