Police probe trio of break-ins in Wheat City

Investigators haven’t linked them, but they are looking into a number of break-ins that were reported Monday.

The first was to a business on the 1000-block of 13th Street. Someone broke in and stole a small amount of cash, but nothing else appears to have been taken or disturbed.

A second business was also broken into, this one on the 800-block of 18th Street. Both cash registers were stolen.

The police forensic identification unit went to both scenes, and officers continue to investigate, but the two break-ins haven't been officially linked.

A third break-in was also reported Monday. Police say that a garage on Elviss Crescent was broken into sometime over the Easter long weekend. A mountain bike was stolen from inside the garage.
