The Brandon Sun salutes the efforts and sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces, past and present. Here’s a list of open hours for some businesses and important services on Remembrance Day:
Your newspaper
• The Brandon Sun will publish according to its regular schedule. That is, it will publish Saturday and Monday but not on Sunday.
REMEMBRANCE DAY RULES
• Most non-essential businesses are required to close until 1 p.m. on Remembrance Day.
This year Remembrance Day falls on a Sunday. Retailers in communities that normally allow Sunday shopping can be open, but must follow both Remembrance Day and Sunday shopping rules.
This means retail businesses can open no earlier than 1 p.m. and must close no later than 6 p.m.
City of Brandon
• City hall and Civic Services Complex will be closed on Monday and will resume regular hours on Tuesday.
Transit
• On Monday, the Transit Administration Office will be closed but buses and Handi Transit will run regular hours.
Travel
• Buses at the Grey Goose-Greyhound bus depot. Call 727-0643 for times.
Liquor
• The Victoria Avenue and Corral Centre Liquor Marts will be open on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Shoppers Mall Liquor Mart will be open on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• The Roblin Liquor Mart will be closed on Sunday.
• Privately-owned liquor vendors and retail beer vendors may open on Remembrance Day at 1 p.m. and remain open until their regular closing hours.
• Dining rooms and veterans’ associations clubs may begin liquor service at noon on Remembrance Day. All other licensed premises may begin serving liquor at 1 p.m.
Health
• Rhema Clinic — closed on Sunday and Monday.
• Brandon Clinic — closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
• Brandon Clinic West — open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.
• Newmount Medical Clinic is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday.
• Trinity Medical Clinic — open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, closed on Sunday, open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
• Wheat City Medical Clinic — open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed on Sunday, and open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday.
• Western Medical clinic — is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
• Rosser Medical Group — is closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
• Brandon Clinic Pharmacy — will be closed Sunday and Monday.
• Miller’s Pharmacy — will be closed on Sunday but open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wheat City Pharmacy — is closed on Sunday and open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Medical Centre Pharmacy — is not open on Sunday but open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Garbage
• There will be no change to the garbage and recycling collection schedule.
• The Eastview Landfill Site will be closed on Sunday for Remembrance Day, but open on Monday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
• The Eco Centre for used oil, oil filters, oil container, antifreeze and antifreeze container disposal is closed on Sundays and all statutory holidays. It will be closed on Monday.
Canada Post
• Canada Post offices are closed on Monday and there will be no regular mail delivery and collection that day. However, post offices operated by the private sector will be open according to the hours of service of the host business.
Shopping
• Shoppers Mall will be open on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Shoppers Mall hours don’t necessarily affect the hours for Smitty’s Family Restaurant and Lounge. Call 204-571-3160 for open hours.
• The Town Centre is closed on Sunday. The centre is open regular hours of 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., but the businesses and offices are open or closed according to their own policy.
BRANDON PUBLIC LIBRARY
The library will be closed on Sunday but open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
