Coun. Garth Rice (South Centre) will be resigning from Brandon City Council at the end of the month.
Rice, who has been a member of city council for the past 12 years, made the announcement at Monday’s meeting.
"It’s with a heavy heart that I resign," he said. "I’m being called to a different challenge within the organization but it won’t be at this table anymore."
"I wish to thank you all, it’s been a pleasure working with every one of you. It has truly been an honour to serve the residents of South Centre ward and the citizens of Brandon."
Mayor Shari Decter Hirst thanked Rice for his service.
"Your leadership has been an inspiration," she said.
