Two rifles were taken from an east end garage last week.
Police released details about the theft on Tuesday morning. They say that a resident of the 300-block of Russell Street reported a break-in to his unattached garage at about 7:40 a.m. on Friday.
The break-in apparently happened sometime overnight. The culprits got into the garage and broke open a locked box to steal the guns. One was a single-shot .22 calibre rifle. The other was a lever-action .30-30 calibre rifle with a telescopic sight.
Several tools and electrical cords were also missing.
Police continue to investigate.
It’s at least the second gun theft in recent weeks. A shotgun was stolen from a locked car in late September; it was later used in an armed robbery.
