Brandon’s annual Travellers’ Day Parade will be slightly diverted this year, thanks to construction upheaval on Victoria Avenue.
Although the parade route normally crosses Victoria at 13th Street, that intersection is currently closed, as provincial crews rebuild Victoria from 18th Street to 12th Street.
As always, the parade will start this year outside the Brandon Sun offices at the corner of Sixth Street and Rosser Avenue. From there, it will head west on Rosser to 12th Street, then turn south to College Avenue. At College, the floats will head east to 10th Street, and from there they’ll head south to Queens Avenue.
The 59th annual parade on Saturday and will include a multitude of local merchant and organizational floats, plus novelty and group participants as well as the Westoba Marching Bands.
A total of eight marching pipe and drum bands as well as the Canadian Forces Air Command Band are scheduled to participate.
