From spider webs to a spooky skull and crossbones, Rose Royce at Straight Up Salon can create a work of art right on the back of your head.
It’s called hair tattooing and Royce definitely has a knack for it. She has done an estimated 50 different “tattoos” shaved onto the head this year.
“So far I’ve done a cat on a fence with a full moon behind it, lots of skulls, ghosts … bats and jack-o-lanterns,” she said.
Royce does the service year-round, and loves to be challenged with ideas and pictures that clients bring in. It’s a great way for an individual to make a statement.
“I’ve been doing hair tattooing for years now and it’s just fun to kind of experiment with the different seasons that come through,” she said.
The time it takes, depends on the type of picture she’s creating. The cost ranges from $20-$50.
