Senior on lawn tractor accused of drunk driving

A Brandon man who’d already had his licence revoked was stopped for impaired driving Monday morning — on a lawn mower.

The tractor-style lawn mower was spotted puttering down the 400-block of Douglas Street at around 8:20 a.m. Monday and police were called. Officers stopped him and noted that he showed signs of intoxication, whereupon he was arrested. He later supplied breath samples that were about triple the legal limit.

Police say the man had a previous impaired driving charge and was prohibited from driving.

A 72-year-old Brandon man is to appear in court on Sept. 10 on charges of impaired driving and driving while disqualified.
