A CFB Shilo soldier has been granted bail on allegations that he offered a teenage girl money to have sex with him and his dog.
Charged with bestiality, he’s also accused of sending her a video of himself performing oral sex on a male dog.
RCMP D Division headquarters in Winnipeg sent out a press release on Monday, confirming queries being made by the Brandon Sun.
Police say that on Sept. 10, the Brandon RCMP detachment received a complaint that a man had solicited a female through a dating website to participate in acts of bestiality.
The man’s Brandon-area home was raided on Sept. 28 with the help of military police, and a number of computers were seized.
A man was arrested and the military has confirmed that he’s a CFB Shilo-based soldier.
However, a military spokesman said the accused’s name, and details such as his rank and unit, won’t be released.
Police didn’t get into details of the allegations, including the age of the female who was allegedly solicited.
However, court documents and a source have supplied some of the details.
Documents indicate that a man is accused of soliciting a female "to have illicit sexual intercourse with himself and his dog at an undisclosed location."
It’s also alleged that he "did unlawfully circulate obscene matter, to wit: a video of himself providing oral sex to a dog."
It’s alleged that the bestiality was committed between Aug. 25 and Sept. 8, the female solicited on Sept. 4 and the obscene material (the video) circulated on Sept. 8.
All of the offences are said to have been committed in the RM of South Cypress.
A source says the man allegedly propositioned a 17-year-old Brandon-area girl by sending a message via the dating website Plenty of Fish.
The man and teen were otherwise not known to each other and had met online. There’s a chance that the man didn’t know the girl’s age as users of Plenty of Fish are meant to be 18 years old or older.
He’s accused of offering her $2,000 to have sex with him and his dog.
It’s also alleged that he emailed the teen a video of himself in his truck performing oral sex on his dog — a male black Labrador Retriever.
The teen did not take the man up on his offer.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
Tyson Larry Shiels, 30, is charged with soliciting to have illicit sexual intercourse, circulating obscene matter and bestiality.
He appeared in Brandon court on Friday and was granted release on bail.
Under the terms of his bail, he’s to live on base, not to use or own cellphones and not to have Internet access.
He also can’t have care or contact with any animals, or be in contact or communication with anyone under the age of 16 years.
He’s scheduled to make another court appearance later this month.
