One of the girls charged in a brawl at Shoppers Mall has been released on bail and more details of the attack have emerged.

The 14-year-old was released with the Crown attorney’s consent during a court appearance on Tuesday.

"What the Crown is doing ... is effectively consenting to release because we’re confident that if we had a bail hearing she’d be released to a responsible person," Crown attorney Jim Ross said.

In total, four girls — two aged 15 years, a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old — were charged with assault for the April 3 incident at the mall.

An 18-year-old woman and 15-year-old girl were described as the victims.

They were reportedly hit, knocked to the floor and kicked.

In court on Tuesday, Ross said the decision to release the girl was made on the basis of her particular circumstances.

Ross said he couldn’t share details of those circumstances in court without seeking a publication ban, but Judge Donovan Dvorak said he didn’t need to hear that information to grant the girl’s release.

Ross did, however, indicate that the girl had previously been released on bail for another assault.

She was then back in custody over allegations of conspiracy to commit robbery, then released again on bail before she was accused of the mall assault and another attack at a Cornell Bay home.

The Cornell Bay incident — in which a 14-year-old girl was attacked by two other teen girls — happened mere hours before the mall tussle.

The girl will appear in court again on April 30.

A 15-year-old girl is also charged in relation to the Cornell Bay assault.

Meanwhile, the Brandon Sun has been sent images from the mall attack, which happened in the food court.

The Sun has learned that one of the attackers was overheard accusing a girl of having stolen her makeup and clothes.

The accuser hit the girl as she sat with companions at a table.

When the girl stood up, and seemingly tried to walk away, her accuser attacked her.

One of the victim’s companions, a girl who tried to pull the attacker off the victim, was then attacked by another girl.

At one point, the original victim fought back and seemed to get the better of her attacker. But then, yet another one of the attacker’s friends jumped in, pulled the victim to the ground and punched her about the head.

The assault continued even though someone shouted that police were on the way.

It finally ended when bystanders intervened.

It’s not clear when mall security arrived.
