Police in Souris are still investigating a large commercial theft from over the weekend.
Although they had previously reported that the total value of the theft was more than $5,000, they’ve now released a list of some of the specialized equipment that was taken.
The thefts were reported to the Souris RCMP on Monday about 10 a.m., but may have happened anytime since Friday. Thieves entered the CP Rail yard sometime during that period and made off with equipment, tools and some 200 litres of diesel fuel.
The stolen equipment included a Stanley hydraulic rail drill, a Stihl gas-powered chop saw and a Husqvarna gas-powered rail saw.
Police say they’re continuing their investigation but are asking for help from the public. If anyone has information on that incident or other crimes in the area, they can contact the Souris RCMP detachment at 204-483-2854 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
