Police say that a “stolen” car that crashed into the train tracks last month wasn’t actually stolen.
The crash was spotted on Aug. 14 at about 2 a.m., when the vehicle was found crashed into the train tracks near the 500-block of First Street.
Later that day, a 24-year-old Brandon man told police that the vehicle had been stolen.
However, police now say the investigation shows that his report was false.
He was arrested on Sept. 5 and charged with public mischief.
The suspect will appear in court on Nov. 1.
