Crews begin the work to strip the lobby of the Strand Theatre on Tuesday.
Workers began remediation work on the historic Strand Theatre lobby today — a first step in the proposed full redevelopment of the building into a community multi-purpose performance and arts centre.
Cogent Construction, Figol Electric and Overland Waste and Recycling recently announced a $70,000 gift-in-kind towards the redevelopment of the historic theatre.
Together with support from other members of the business community, the redevelopment of the Strand Theatre has now benefited from more than $200,000 in private support.
"It is wonderful that members of the business community see the value of having a historic theatre converted into a community performance and arts venue," said Brandon Folk, Music and Art Society spokesperson Shandra MacNeill, who is spearheading the Strand project.
"Downtown Brandon has a wealth of heritage architecture and the Strand Theatre has the potential to transform the Downtown HUB into an arts and entertainment destination location in our province."
