A man was stabbed several times and robbed of his beer over the weekend, but initially didn’t report the theft to police.
Officers only managed to track the victim down after hospital staff called them Sunday just before 8 a.m., as the victim left.
He had allegedly said that the incident had already been reported to police, but police say it hadn’t.
The stabbing apparently happened around 2 a.m. on Saturday morning, as the man was walking home in a laneway near Sixth Street. He told police he was approached by three male suspects who demanded his beer. When he refused to turn it over, one of them stabbed him several times, in the upper and lower body.
The three suspects were all described as aboriginal. The first was about six feet tall and 170 pounds, with black, shoulder-length hair, wearing a black hoodie and jeans. The second was about 5-foot-10 and 150 pounds, with a goatee. He was wearing a white hat, red shirt and dark sweat pants. The third suspect was only described as being in his mid-20s.
Police continue to investigate.
