City police have arrested two people in connection with Friday morning’s gunpoint robbery at a 7-Eleven.
Police say a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from Brandon, were involved in the early morning stickup that netted the thieves cash and cigarettes.
Police were called to the 7-Eleven on Willowdale Crescent near 26th Street at about 3:45 a.m. Friday after the store had just been robbed at gunpoint.
Staff said that two men had entered the store — one with a shotgun and the other with a large knife — with their faces covered, and committed the robbery before fleeing westward on foot.
A police dog later tracked them to the rear of an apartment block, but lost the trail there. Police say they think the suspects used a vehicle to get away.
Police have not said if the shotgun used in this robbery was the same one stolen about a day earlier from a locked car. They continue to investigate.
Both suspects face robbery and weapons charges. The 19-year-old — who will appear in court on Nov. 18 — has also been charged with vehicle theft, while the 17-year-old — slated to appear before a judge a day later — is also charged with wearing a disguise.
