An 18-year-old man was beaten and robbed Tuesday night by two teenagers, one of whom had a knife.
Police say that they were alerted to the in-progress assault by a passerby who spotted it happening on the 600-block of Park Avenue. Officers who responded say they found the victim in the area; he had been slightly hurt, but didn’t require medical attention.
He told police he had been confronted by two suspects, one with a knife, who beat him up and stole his wallet, which contained a quantity of cash.
Police later spotted two suspects matching descriptions the victim had given, near the Brandon Curling Club in the Keystone Centre grounds.
They were arrested and police say the victim’s wallet and a quantity of cash were recovered. Police also found a knife and a hammer on the suspects. Neither weapon had been used in the assault.
A 15-year-old Sioux Valley Dakota Nation boy and a 16-year-old Brandon boy were both charged with robbery and assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Both youth were held in custody and were to appear in court yesterday for a bail hearing.
