Thief makes off with RM of Whitehead police vehicle

Police were in search of one of their own vehicles yesterday.

An RM of Whitehead police constable reported his maroon 2008 Chevy Tahoe was stolen and — as city police note in a press release — it has all the usual signs of being a cop car including sirens, a directional arrow across the back and has “POLICE” marked on the side.

The report was filed just after 10 a.m. yesterday after the constable said the vehicle was stolen from outside a residence on the 1000-block of Victoria Avenue East, where it had been parked since 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The vehicle, with Manitoba licence plate number EYG205, had been securely locked and alarmed, Brandon police say, and an inventory of the vehicle contents was conducted.

There are no suspects or witnesses. Police are continuing to investigate.
