Thieves target city restaurants

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving two restaurant break and enters.

Police report that sometime overnight between May 8 and May 9, thieves broke into the Wah Lee restaurant, at 759 First St., by smashing the front door glass.

During that same time period, suspects also broke into the Chicken Delight restaurant, at 1113 Rosser Ave., by removing a wall-mounted air conditioning unit. In both cases, quantities of money were stolen from inside.

It is unknown whether the two incidents are related.

Wanted by police

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Beverley Eleanor Branth, who is wanted by police.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Branth, 66, who is charged with two counts of theft and failing to attend court.

Police report that on March 16 and March 17, 2011, two women allegedly shoplifted more than $300 worth of clothing from a Brandon store.

On June 18, 2011, the same suspects allegedly stole a shopping cart full of groceries and other items from a Brandon grocery store.

After being arrested and later released, one of the suspects failed to attend court on May 22.
