Thieves target fire-damaged home on 12th street

A home that had been left vacant after a fire earlier this month was broken into and ransacked, police say.

A resident of the home spotted the break-in on Monday; it had apparently happened sometime overnight.

Suspects had broken through a padlocked entrance to get inside and ransacked the house, which is on the 600-block of 12th Street. Stolen from inside was a Makita rechargeable drill and a Pentax camera.

Police say they are continuing to investigate.
