Thieves target two city businesses; steal cash

Police say that two Brandon businesses were broken into either Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. Both break-ins were reported Wednesday morning.

The first was discovered just before 7 a.m. that morning. Police say the glass front doors at a restaurant on the 700-block of First Street had been broken and left wide open. The business had been broken into and someone had stolen the cash float.

A couple of hours later, at about 9:15 a.m., an employee of a business on the 1100-block of Rosser Avenue reported another break-in.

This time, suspects removed a wall-mounted air conditioner to get inside, where they stole a quantity of cash.

Police say they continue to investigate both incidents.
