Twenty minutes after smashing into a tree on the 700-block of Louise Avenue, an alleged drunk driver was stopped by police in downtown Brandon on Saturday.
According to a witness who told police the driver was drunk, the vehicle hit the tree at 2:15 p.m.
The 50-year-old Brandon man was arrested and provided samples of his breath and had more than two and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. He was released from jail and is expected to appear in court on Thursday, facing impaired driving charges.
In an unrelated drunk driving incident, police stopped to help a vehicle stalled at 18th Street and Patricia Avenue at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The driver, a 34-year-old Brandon woman, was found to be intoxicated with more than three and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in her system. She was held and released from jail and is to appear in court on Thursday to face impaired driving charges.
In a third unrelated incident on Friday evening, a man was charged with impaired driving after he tried to change his tire on Braecrest Drive.
The 57-year-old Brandon man blew twice the legal limit and was charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while impaired and care and control over .08.
