Three of four theft suspects collared

Police say four thefts were reported to them on Wednesday — and they’ve arrested suspects in three of them.

The first was a 26-year-old woman nabbed by employees after allegedly stealing a DVD player from a store on the 900-block of Victoria Avenue. She was turned over to police, but has since been released. She’s to appear in court on Aug. 5.

Another woman, 18, was arrested after Shoppers Mall security apprehended her. She’s alleged to have shoplifted about $250 in merchandise from four stores. Police say she, too, has been released, but with a court date of July 31.

A second teenager, a 14-year-old boy, was also arrested Wednesday, after allegedly stealing some cash from a home. He has since been released as well, with a date in court for July 15.

The one case that officers have yet to crack was reported from the 600-block of 21st Street. An unlocked garage was entered and someone stole a lawnmower and a can of gas from inside. Police say it apparently happened sometime in the early morning hours of last Friday, but wasn’t reported until Wednesday.
