Tickets for Heart went on sale at the Keystone Centre on Friday.
The band, which features the Wilson sisters, has had more than five decades of success with hits that include “Barracuda,” “Crazy On You” and “Magic Man.”
Heart will play in Brandon on March 15, 2013.
“It’s looking great,” Keystone Centre general manager Neil Thomson said. “I’m very happy with the support we’re getting from Brandon, western Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan.”
Although Thomson didn’t have an exact figure on opening-day sales, he did speak to the show’s promoter who was pleased and said sales are on the same pace as the group’s show in Toronto.
The concert will try to build on the success of recent shows in Brandon, that includes Paul Brandt and Johnny Reid. A sold-out crowd took in the Reid concert, while 1,700 country music fans attended the Brandt concert. Thomson expects the Heart show to attract fans somewhere in between the two crowds.
“I think the market has changed,” Thomson said. “We’re in a bigger community. We have a wide variety of audience and maybe a bit more disposable income and people are seeing the value and looking for entertainment options and we’re happy to try to bring in those bands and we look forward to more announcements in the future.”
The Keystone Centre is expected to make another announcement on Monday regarding a show at the venue. Thomson was tight-lipped about who would headline the concert, but did say that it was a Canadian rock group.
“We’re quite excited and (the band is) on a cross-country tour and we’re thrilled that they are going to be stopping in Brandon,” Thomson said.
