A host of Brandon organizations and individuals are up for awards at this year’s Tribute to Tourism gala on June 5.
The Brandon Folk, Music and Art Festival, the Brandon Jazz Festival, Brandon University Students’ Union, the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba, the Brandon Global Market committee, Daly House Museum and Sylvia Barr of Brandon have been nominated for the 10th Anniversary Tribute to Tourism Awards Gala in the respective categories of event of the year, marketing excellence (Jazz Fest, BUSU, Provincial Ex.), partnership, product development and volunteer of the year.
Tourism Westman hosts an annual gala that recognizes and celebrates the exceptional individuals, businesses, organizations and communities within the Westman region that have made significant contributions to tourism development and promotion over the past year.
Twenty nominations have been submitted for the 2013 awards from communities throughout Westman, including Brandon, Boissevain, Carberry, Deloraine, Minnedosa, the Rural Municipality of Strathcona, the RM of Strathclair and Virden.
Other categories for awards include aspiring youth and service excellence.
All winners will also be nominated for the Manitoba Tourism Awards hosted in Winnipeg.
Winners will be announced at the Tribute to Tourism gala held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at the Royal Oak Inn and Suites Regency Ballroom in Brandon.
The evening will feature a lovely meal, entertainment by renowned comedian Debra DiGiovanni and the awards ceremony.
