A man and a woman who were reportedly causing a disturbance in a local lounge got up and left before police were able respond — but they allegedly drove off while drunk.
On Thursday at about 9:30 p.m., police were called to the lounge, on the southern stretch of 18th Street, where the pair were causing some problems. However, they had driven off before officers arrived.
The two were located on the 1900-block of Lyndale Drive, where police say the man behind the wheel was intoxicated, as was his female passenger.
The driver was arrested and later gave breath samples that showed an alcohol content more than double the legal limit. The passenger was also arrested. She was allegedly breaching the conditions of a court order.
A 58-year-old Calgary man is to appear in court on Thursday on a charge of impaired driving.
A 33-year-old Brandon woman was to appear in court Friday to face three charges of breaching a recognizance.
