Two men in hot water after women threatened in separate incidents

Two Brandon men face charges of uttering threats, after separate incidents — that both happened over the phone.

Police say that a woman contacted them on May 1, saying that she had been receiving threatening text messages over the past three weeks. The messages had been sent from an unknown telephone number, but police say their investigation showed that they were sent by a man known to the woman.

On Wednesday, the suspect was located and arrested. A 22-year-old Brandon man is to appear in court on June 11 on a charge of uttering threats.

In an apparently unrelated incident, a woman reported to police on Tuesday that she had received threats over the telephone from a man that she knew. Police say that the suspect was also on probation, with a condition that he was to have no contact with the woman.

On Wednesday, this suspect, too, was located and arrested.

A 47-year-old Brandon man was to appear in court Thursday on charges of uttering threats and breaching probation.
