Brandon could lose its Veterans Affairs office, according to media reports yesterday.
The CBC says it has learned of eight VA offices across the country that are slated to close.
There are currently 32 of the offices, which help veterans with their benefits. The federal government has previously said that 78 positions would be cut in the March 2012 budget, but the locations of those cuts was not known.
Along with Brandon, the CBC has identified offices in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Corner Brook, N.L., Sydney, N.S., Windsor, Ont., London, Ont., Kelowna and Saskatoon as slated to close.
The Union of Veterans Affairs Employees told CBC News that the offices would close at the end of the month.
The Department of Veterans Affairs would not confirm the reports.
