The Daly House Museum will be hosting a special Christmas tour next Saturday afternoon, Dec. 14. The tour will feature Victorian Christmas traditions and refreshments.
Museum staff point out that many of today’s Christmas customs have their roots in Victorian England. The tour will explain the history of some of them and read several classic Christmas texts.
Tour guests will be treated to hot cider and traditional Christmas goodies in the kitchen of the museum, which will be decked out for the Christmas season. Tour guides will also be attired in costumes of the Victorian period.
“This is a great way to get into the spirit of Christmas,” says museum board chair Murray Graham.
Tours will begin at 1:30 p.m. and at 3 p.m. Each tour is limited to 20 participants and the cost per person is $15. Pre-registration is required by calling the museum at 204-727-1722.
Proceeds support the museum and its programs.
