Eligible members of Westman Communications Group could see a share of half a million dollars in their mailboxes soon.
The media co-operative, which offers television, Internet and phone service in Westman, expects to have cheques in the mail by mid-month, after their annual general meeting on Friday.
“The payment of patronage shows that it does pay to belong to Westman Communications Group and it sets us apart from our competitors,” said Dave Hughes, chairperson of WCG’s board of directors.
“This is the second such distribution this year. The first payment was made in April for the 2012 fiscal year and the upcoming distribution is for the 2013 fiscal year.”
In the past, WCG has also reinvested member equity back into operations to fund expansions and equipment upgrades.
The dividend payments this year will be mailed to members.
“These dividends were made possible by the loyal patronage of our members, both residential and commercial,” said Dave Baxter, president and CEO of the co-op.
“This loyalty to our products and services results in the continued growth of their equity in our company, and distributions such as these become possible.”
