While WestJet will not announce where its new regional airline will fly until early 2013, staff and passengers on those regional flights know they will be flying on WestJet Encore.
The name for the regional service was released Thursday evening in a press release that noted the service will be using the Bombardier Q400 turboprop plane.
“Encore reinforces that our WestJetters are ready to repeat the success of WestJet, liberating Canadians in many communities from the high cost of air travel,” said Bob Cummings, WestJet’s executive vice-president for sales, marketing and guest experience.
Brandon city and business officials presented to WestJet a business case in June to include the Wheat City in WestJet Encore’s list of destinations.
