Wheat City officers arrest 3 on Monday

Three people were arrested Monday on the strength of existing warrants.

Police say the first was a 31-year-old Brandon man who turned himself in after learning that he was wanted by police. He had allegedly failed to comply with the conditions of his probation. Police took him into custody and held him overnight to appear in court Tuesday morning.

Then, on Monday evening, officers on patrol recognized a 25-year-old Brandon man walking in the downtown area and knew there was a warrant out for his arrest. He was jailed on a warrant for assault, uttering threats and mischief to property and was also held overnight to appear in court Tuesday morning.

Finally, police got a tip that a 46-year-old woman, for whom an arrest warrant existed, was staying at a motel on the 2700-block of Victoria Avenue. They quickly found her and arrested her on a warrant for theft under $5,000. She was later released to appear in court on July 24.
