Woman faces assault charge

An assault that was originally believed to be too minor for police involvement turned out to be more serious and a woman has been arrested.

Officers were first called on July 12, when one woman reported that she had been assaulted by another woman, whom she knew.

With injuries that appeared minor, the victim was told that if she wanted to press charges, she would have to do it privately, at the courthouse.

However, it later turned out that the injuries to the victim’s upper body may require medical attention. The suspect was located Wednesday and arrested.

A 27-year-old Brandon woman is to appear in court on Sept. 4 on a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
