Would-be robber scared off by screams, cops say

A woman who yelled and screamed when approached by a man who tried to rob her ended up scaring him off, police say.

They were called by the victim at about 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday, who said that she had been confronted by the would-be robber on the 1000-block of Princess Avenue.

When she spotted him rummaging through her vehicle, which was parked in the area, the man apparently told her that he had a knife, and demanded money.

The woman yelled and screamed, and the man ran off. Police say the victim never saw the knife that the man claimed to have, and she wasn’t touched during the incident.

Shortly after, police arrested a drunk man in the area, and say they think he may be connected.

A 53-year-old man was held overnight in the drunk tank; police continue to investigate.
