Police employee in Quebec arrested in crackdown on alleged drug ring

MONTREAL - A police employee is among about 40 people who have been arrested in raids aimed at cracking down on an alleged drug ring in Quebec.

The woman works for the municipal force in Saint-Jerome, north of Montreal.

A spokesman for the Laval police force says she has been suspended and that she had access to sensitive information.

Police allege the ring had links with criminal biker gangs.

Authorities have seized drugs, weapons, cash and documents.

More than 300 police officers from various forces are taking part in dozens of raids in Saint-Jerome, Mirabel, Terrebonne, Saint-Colomban and Saint-Hippolyte.<
