CALGARY - A reward fund set up to find the person responsible for the brutal killing a dog and cat in Calgary has been capped at $20,000.

Public donations have been flowing in steadily and the total is now over $75,000.

But officials at Vets to Go, which set up the fund, says it's best to cap it so that they can weed out any tips that may be fabricated based on greed.

They say the money will be put into a fund to assist in training programs for Crown prosecutors to improve their ability to obtain convictions in court, as well as establishing a national animal abuse registry similar to the registered sex offenders registry.

The dog and cat were found emaciated and with their mouths taped shut a few days apart in the same alley southeast Calgary.
