Teen, man with alleged gang ties, charged in fatal Winnipeg restaurant shooting

WINNIPEG - Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, have been arrested in the shooting death of a man at a Winnipeg restaurant.

William Edward Moar was gunned down in the Main Street business in the early morning hours of Feb. 15.

Moar, who was 24, once had connections to a street gang.

He and four others were charged with aggravated assault in 2009 after a Sudanese immigrant, who had been mistaken for a gang member, was savagely beaten and left with permanent brain damage.

Akech Ajak is charged with first-degree murder, while the teen was picked up recently in Calgary on the same charge.

Police say Ajak, who is 22, was banned from having guns and allege that he has ties to an African street gang in Winnipeg. (CJOB, The Canadian Press)
