Winnipeg man gets five years for tying up and sexually assaulting girl

WINNIPEG - A former Winnipeg furniture store owner has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Oubay Chebib, 47, was convicted earlier this year of tying up and assaulting his victim after plying her with cocaine and alcohol in 2008.

Chebib used to run the now-defunct Fabulous Futon Factory.

During his testimony, he admitted he was addicted to crack cocaine at the time and was in a drug-induced haze that clouded his judgment and memory.

However, he insisted he did not rape the girl and would never take off a woman's clothing without her consent.

The complainant, who is now 19, testified the attack came after a night of partying turned violent.
