Sorry, seniors

I was reminded late Thursday that it was time for the annual seniors' bus tour to check out Christmas light decorations.

There are lots of neighbourhoods where people either compete to outdo one another with the most outrageous light display, or coordinate to ensure that the entire street is all lit up.

My neighbourhood is not one of those. (It has other strengths.)

So I'm pretty sure that there won't be any buses cruising down my street. And if they do, they'll be disappointed.

That's not to say that there aren't a couple of houses all decked out with lit-up seasonal cheer. There are.

But more of them are dark.

And I'm sad to admit that mine is one of them.

Well, sort of. Stung by a $50 ticket for dragging an extension cord across the sidewalk last year, I built one of those gallows-like structures to raise it up and over before plugging in my car.

It looks like crap, so I spraypainted it green, added some fake-evergreen garland, and strung some lights around it, too (I mean, I was running electical power out there anyway...).

I think it looks amazing. But it's the only Chistmas decoration we've put up. (Oh, plus a decorative door hanging.)

I'd love to have put up more lights, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Normally, I aim for early in December. But it was too darn cold this year.

So I've got boxes of new lights sitting in my living room, and they're not going up until Monday, when it's supposed to be -4ºC.

Sorry, senior bus tour, but it's too darn cold for Christmas this year.

Grant, you have a good sense of humor!

I enjoyed reading your very clever article.

I'm still giggling about it.

Thank you for this.

I'll be thinking of you on Monday!

Tee hee......

Hopefully the weather will co-operate and be just perfect for you.

Be careful & don't get hurt struggling up and down that ladder, if there is one involved.

Did you see the new Christmas lights with the clips already attached to them?

I saw these at Canadian Tire.

All the best to you on Monday, Grant!

Please let us know how it all goes, eh?

Merry Christmas to you and yours!
