• 20th anniversary deals at Rhonda's

  Rhonda’s Nail & Hair Care, at 1865 Brandon Ave., is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month and there are lots of great deals to be had for customers. Rhonda’s Nails & Hair Care opened in May 1993 with just two staff members. Owner Rhonda Williams said there have been two other owners during the lifespan of the business, which she started, and is now once again owner. The salon has grown to six staff members and expanded beauty services as well.

• Dock's Green drive going strong

  Give Up the Green is shaping up to be a successful fundraising campaign for the Dock On Princess, located at 1133 Princess Ave. The campaign started Feb. 19 and will wrap up next Sunday, March 17, on St. Patrick’s Day. Dock manager Jamie Munro said there is still exciting ways to be a part of the campaign, which will benefit the Brandon Regional Health Centre’s Neonatal Unit, through the BRHC Foundation. “It’s been going really well. We’ve raised about $2,600 so far, which is about halfway there,” Munro said. “The response from our customer base has been fantastic.”

• Princess Auto settling in at new location

  Princess Auto in Brandon closed its doors at its 1800 18th St. North location on Feb. 4 and the very next day opened the doors to a completely new, bigger and brighter Princess Auto just a half block down the street. Now located at 1855–18th St. North, Princess Auto boasts a spacious and well-lit 25,000-square-foot newly constructed store, more than 10,000 square feet bigger than its previous location. Adam Moore, assistant team leader at Princess Auto, said that the response from customers has been good.

• Family-run Thunderbird Bowl marks 50 years

  Fifty years has brought a lot of changes to one of the longest family-run businesses in town. Thunderbird Bowl is marking its 50th season in business. Back in 1962, Thunderbird Bowl, which is now located at 2140 Currie Blvd., opened with 16 10-pin lanes and a Salisbury House, in 13,000 square feet, with no parking.
