If taking out the garbage is one of those household chores that makes you cringe, especially when winter winds are howling, then Curbside Brandon might be for you.
Curbside Brandon is the Wheat City’s newest business of convenience for those who don’t want to or have difficulty rolling out their garbage bins to the curb in time for pick up on garbage days.
All you have to do is put the garbage in the bin and Curbside Brandon will take it out to the curb for you the day before your garbage day and then roll your bins back to the side of your house.
No more forgetting to take it out or even remembering you haven’t taken out the garbage after you’ve got your pajamas on and are just crawling into bed. Curbside does the rest, and for just $2.50 per week.
"I hated chores growing up. I grew up on a farm so I always complained when my parents asked me," said Curbside Brandon owner Jonathan Sparrow. "But when people don’t want to do things — that’s when I had (the idea for Curbside Brandon)."
Sparrow, who at 17 years old may be one of the Wheat City’s youngest entrepreneurs, was working on another business idea when he came up with the idea for Curbside Brandon.
"The ‘Dragon’s Den’ (television show) actually contacted me for my first idea, but I turned them down because it’s not quite developed yet. I thought I could get (Curbside Brandon) off the ground a little quicker."
Through planning his business, Sparrow came up against some hurdles that the average businesses owner may not have to jump.
"It has definitely been challenging with my age. I got a lot of no’s because I’m underage," Sparrow said.
Curbside Brandon offers a number of different packages, but the best deal is the 12-month plan, which gives the customer one month free and a low price of $120 for the year.

Maluga’s Memorabilia
If you have a passion for super heroes and sports, you’re in luck.
Maluga’s Memorabilia will open in Brandon on Sept. 1 and is sure to satisfy any unique collector’s addiction they might have.
Opening at 925 Rosser Ave., Maluga’s Memorabilia promises to offer sports memorabilia, including autographed jerseys, footballs and helmets, comic books, rock ’n’ roll memorabilia and more.
"Basically anything that has to do with collecting," said owner Glenn Maluga.
Maluga said he got the idea for his new business from one he had owned in Brandon before — Venom Cards and Comics — after a divorce left him as a single father of three young children.
Maluga said he kept his passion for the genre and now that his children are older he can think about operating a business once again.
"I’m a big kid. I’m a dad that loves comic book stuff. My kids know we’re the first to go see Spider-Man or Superman or those movies. Everything in my house has that genre. People have their crutches and that’s my crutch," Maluga said.
Maluga’s Memorabilia’s website will be up and running shortly. Check it out at malugasmemorabilia.com or call 204-573-4524.
