Congratulations to Stan’s Fine Foods, which is celebrating 35 years in business this coming week.

Stan’s Fine Foods, located at D-650 First St., has come a long way since that first day.

Bea Watson, who started as a cashier with Stan’s 35 years ago and is now the store manager, said that Stan’s has filled out and expanded, adding a full bakery, deli and meat department.

Owned by Stan Phillips, Stan’s Fine Foods offers a variety of grocery items, produce and more. Stan’s specializes in fruit baskets and home delivery of groceries.

For more information, call Stan’s Fine Foods at 204-727-3014 or check out this Wednesday’s edition of the Brandon Sun, in which Stan’s will be advertising all its extra fantastic anniversary deals.

Stan’s Fine Foods is open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.

Rolling Spokes

Rolling Spokes has rolled into a new space.

Previously located on the 700-block of First Street, the home health-care company doubled its square footage and showroom space with its move earlier this month into 215 Sixth St.

"Our old location was a bit crammed," said Les Wedderburn, who owns Rolling Spokes with partner Vernon Byers.

"We’ve definitely doubled the square footage and there is lots of parking. It’s easy access, too, so it’s easier for our customers to get into our store."

Wedderburn also said the new 5,400-square-foot space allows Rolling Spokes to display more of its home health-care products in its expanded showroom.

Rolling Spokes is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments may be available Saturdays.

Karla’s International Foods

Karla’s International Foods is moving, but don’t worry, it will still be easy to find them downtown.

Karla’s International Foods, currently located at 937 Rosser Ave., will move its popular downtown food store to 904 Rosser Ave.

The move comes for Karla’s as her upstairs landlord, the Double Decker, has plans to expand in Karla’s space.

Karla Ortega, owner of Karla’s International Foods, said she is relocating within the same block to make it easier for customers to find her.

"I’ve been in this spot for seven years on Rosser so I didn’t want to move to far where my customers couldn’t find me," Ortega said.

Ortega will be moved into her new space by Nov. 19 and will still be offering Karla’s coffee stand, delicious baked-on-location goods like tamales and a variety of international foods, including all the special German and Polish cuisine that will be arriving shortly for the Christmas season.

For more information, call Karla’s International Foods at 204-726-8805 or email Karla Ortega at karla.ortega@ live.com.

Houstons Country Roadhouse

Houstons Country Roadhouse is celebrating its 20th anniversary this coming week in a very big way.

On Wednesday, Doc Walker, (who played Houstons regularly before they made it big) and Curtis Grambo will perform at the night club.

Tickets for that event are available at the Royal Oak Inn and Suites or Houstons for $35 each.

On Thursday and Friday, 10 lucky people will win trips to Las Vegas.

Five trips will be given out on each Thursday and Friday night and winners must be in attendance between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. to win.

For more information, search for Houstons on Facebook.
