Lynda and Cecil Foster are retiring from Foster’s Floral Fashions and Foster’s Bridal Fashions this summer.
Cecil Foster is looking forward to retirement after 52 years in the floral business.
Foster, who has owned Foster’s Floral Fashions for 50-plus years and Foster’s Bridal Fashions for more than 20 years, is hoping to sell both businesses and the building they are in, at 260 10th St., soon.
"We’ve done very well here. We’ve always had good service. We spent more money on the best flowers and the best products and they did well," Foster said. Foster said he’s willing to sell both Foster’s businesses as a package or split them and sell the two businesses and the building separately to ready buyers.
Foster said he is looking to reduce his bridal gown inventory and will likely put them on sale soon.
"I’ll miss the people the most," Foster said of what he’ll miss come retirement. "The customers are my friends after all of these years."

Power Play Crossfit
Brandon has a new CrossFit facility in the east end. Power Play CrossFit opened last week at 3C-389 Park Ave. East.
Gary Wallace, owner and CrossFit trainer, said the opening of his new facility was a long time in the making.
"We started about a year ago looking. It was hard to find a building that would suit us," Wallace said. But Wallace said the high ceilings and wide open space of their current location won them over and after some renovations, was crossfit ready.
Wallace said he was first drawn to the fitness regiment when a friend introduced him to it.
"After one week I really started to see results," Wallace said. "I’m in the best shape of my life. I’ve gotten stronger and leaner."
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program that is adaptable to almost any age and fitness level. In fact, Wallace says he is the only Crossfit instructor in Brandon that is currently certified to teach CrossFit to children.
Classes at Power Play CrossFit start at 6 a.m. and run on the hour, every hour until 7 p.m. Prices for Power Play CrossFit classes are $150 per month for adults, $100 for teens and $80 for children (ages six to 12 years.) As an opening special, month fees are on sale for half price. A 10 class punch card is also available for $150, on sale right now for $100.

Prairie Electric
After only a few months in business, Prairie Electric may be looking to expand.
Started by electricians Kelly Puhach and Stuart Jack this past November, Prairie Electric does any residential or commercial electric and specializes in new housing.
Prairie Electric is located at 140 Pacific Ave. Puhach and Jack have a combined 16 years of experience in the field.
Jack said the duo have been fairly busy and may be looking to hire on some help in the coming months.
"It’s been really good. We’re busy and have a lot of new projects coming up," Jack said.
