Geoffery and Anna Dumas will open their Crossfit Brandon fitness facility on Richmond Avenue in early May.
Brandon is getting a new fitness facility and a new way to get healthy.
Geoffery and Anna Dumas will open up their crossfit fitness facility, Crossfit Brandon, located at 1229 Richmond Ave., the first or second week of May.
Geoffery Dumas, a certified Crossfit coach, who recently retired from the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, said he was motivated to open a Crossfit facility when he saw the need.
"Crossfit is an extremely effective rehab program for the unfit," Dumas said.
So what exactly is crossfit? "Constantly varied, functional movement, preferably at a high intensity," Dumas said. "The ability to lift a large load and move it over a long distance quickly." A Crossfit class would and could include these types of exercises: burpees, wall balls and multiple 200 metre rows. Sound tough? Maybe, but Dumas said the Crossfit program can be adaptable to anyone of any fitness level. "It’s all scalable and can be made to fit any person."
Dumas will be accepting four people per class. Class schedule is as follows: Monday to Friday, 6 a.m., 7:15 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.; Saturdays, 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. 12 p.m., 2 p.m.; Sundays, 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
An intro class is also being offered Monday to Friday from 10:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Dumas said he will be accepting signups for classes on Monday.
