Kelleher Ford hosts Classic Car Rally

Kelleher Ford in Brandon will host its sixth annual Classic Car Rally today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the front of the car dealership, located at 1445 18th St. North

Cory Andrew, one of two Kelleher Ford employees helping to organize the event, said all car lovers are welcome to check out the event.

Each participant will get an event T-shirt and will be entered in contests such as Best in Show. There will also be a barbecue lunch, with proceeds going to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation.

If you don’t have a classic car, but a dirty car, you can also bring it to Kelleher Ford between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. as students from the graduating class of Elton Collegiate are hosting a car wash on site.

"It’s a great way to get involved in the community and share our love of cars," Andrew said about the reasons for hosting the ongoing event.

For more information, call Kelleher Ford at 204-728-8554.

Sunrise Credit Union

Business is good for Sunrise Credit Union as the company is expanding two of its branches in Manitoba, including the Brandon location at 824 18th St.

Tayona Johnas, vice-president of strategic planning and wealth management, said the expansions — the Brandon branch and a new building for the Waskada branch — is due to Sunrise Credit Union’s increasing customer base and thus, its increasing staff numbers.

"We’ve got staff doubled up in offices," Johnas said. "This will be a lot more space for our staff and our customers … we are bursting at the seams."

The Brandon location, set in Unit B of the 18th Street strip mall, is expanding into Unit A as well, which will give the financial institution 4,000 square feet of space when renovations are complete.

Work on the Brandon branch is underway and should be completed by September.

Johnas said Sunrise is also moving out of its location in Waskada, at 28 Railway East, into a new building, which the company just broke ground on last week.

The new Waskada location is expected to open in March, 2013.

Western Financial Group

Western Financial Group is stretching its legs in its new location at 1-1830 Park Ave. in Brandon (the former Rogers Video building).

The move nearly doubles the space the staff of 15 had in their old location in Thomas Mall on 18th Street.

Lauren Hiltner, Western Financial Group managing partner, said the group has been in the new location for about three weeks but will save a grand opening to celebrate the move for the fall when staff are back from summer holidays.

That doesn’t mean staffers at the Western Financial Group are relaxing — earlier this week, the company ran its annual Support the Cause event, where staff seek out pledges for a local non-profit group and a walk takes place.
