Kim’s Asian Restaurant, located at 42 McTavish Ave. East, in the First Street Plaza, has a new look.

The popular restaurant underwent a 10-day renovation in January and is marking its 25th year in business.

Kim’s Asian Restaurant owner, Angie Nguyen, said the restaurant was closed during the renovations, which saw the interior of Kim’s gutted and completely redone.

"We renovate the interior every 10 years. It keeps the restaurant up with the times," Nguyen said.

Nguyen said among the major changes to the interior are the decor and the buffet area, which has expanded to include the restaurant’s new Vietnamese menu and its all-you-can-eat sushi and Chinese buffet.

Kim’s Asian Restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The restaurant seats 75 and a take-out menu is also available. (You can view Kim’s take-out menu at brandonsun.com — just click on the Menus button.)

VIVID Lash and Nail Design

Downtown Brandon has a new beauty boutique.

VIVID Lash and Nail Design recently opened downtown at 1323 Rosser Ave. Meg Willey, owner of VIVID Lash and Nail Design, said the salon specializes in the ever increasing beauty trend of eyelash extensions.

"It works for people who want to make their eyelashes look longer and fuller, or for those who don’t want to wear mascara all the time," Willey said.

The eyelash extensions follow the natural life cycle of a woman’s lashes, lasting about eight weeks, with a touch-up at week three or four.

VIVID Lash and Nail Design also offers a full complement of nail services, including manicures, pedicures, gel nails, polish and a full line of skin care products and jewellery.

"We’re really trying to create a boutique feel," Willey said.

VIVID Lash and Nail Design is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and evenings and weekends by request.

To make an appointment, call 204-717-0140.
